June 2025 Recap & Info: Facebook
Register your young aviator for a free flight at the EAA Chapter 33 Annual Flight Rally! Saturday, June 14, at the Eastern Iowa Airport, pre-registered youth ages 8-17 will have the chance to take a 15-20 minute flight with an experienced volunteer pilot. The Young Eagles Program lands at CID only once per year, so we encourage you to share in this rare, free opportunity!
On June 14, follow the signs to the former Signature hangar at 9430 Shepard Ct. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Founded in 1992, the EAA – Young Eagles program has dedicated 25 years to giving youth ages 8–17 their first free ride in an airplane. It’s the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation. Today, the Young Eagles program has flown over 2 million kids with the help of EAA – The Spirit of Aviation’s network of volunteer pilots and ground volunteers, in which Chapter 33 is proud to be an active member.
EAA Chapter 33 hosts events at various airports throughout eastern Iowa during the summer months. Children ages 8-17 are welcome to attend, accompanied by a parent or guardian who will be required to sign permission before the flight. Experienced local pilots will then give your young aspiring aviators the experience of a lifetime – their first airplane ride! Afterwards, a certificate is issued and the flight is entered into the “World’s Largest Logbook”. The “World’s Largest Logbook” and other information on the Young Eagles Program can be viewed online at www.youngeagles.org.
