The Eastern Iowa Airport experiencing double digit passenger growth since January 2012

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The Eastern Iowa Airport is experiencing a significant growth in passenger travel for 2012 with a 13.9 percent year over year increase in the number of travelers choosing to fly from CID since January. That is over 40,000 additional travelers at the Airport through October of this year.

According to Tim Bradshaw, Airport Director, “We are seeing double digit growth month after month. We are encouraged by the steady growth and are project hitting the 500,000 passenger mark this year: a feat that has not happened since 2007. This is excellent news for travelers as we also continue to add more flights and seats to the market.”

The Airport is currently working on updating their strategic master plan to identify the facility improvements necessary for the continued increase in passenger traffic. Preliminary plans include the need for both additional concourse space and updated terminal space.
